Here we are still working since Sunday.. now Tuesday afternoon. Some of the students began to produced the models of the projects...

Today, Siam Paragon put a very big banner of Bangkok Design Festival 2008 on the main facade next to the skytrain station.. very visible. :-)


Today was also a day we began to work rather hard.. this is the environment of Siam Discovery Center where we worked.



Late afternoon, after spending something thinking individually, the students presented their ideas one by one. There were a lot of very interesting and fun ideas which should be developed very nicely. I will get into details later on. The subject dealing with elderly and how to grow old nicely is rather a new subject for them.. so that they are confused and enjoyed at the same time.


After a long hours of working , we finally had dinner altogether at MO-MO Paradise shabu & sukuyaki at Central World Plaza.


Very good dinner. You can see from the pictures that we all enjoyed greatly! Work hard, play harder, eat hardest... :-)

The first day of our 2008 version workshop began. In the morning we met at Siam Discovery Center on the 5th floor where the venue of the workshop is .. Pim and I gave an introduction and threw some ideas to the 22 students.

Then we let them explore a little bit their focus on the subject.. during the lunch time. When we all came back together again, we started to put all our ideas in written form...on the sketch paper..






Pape, Juthamas Tangsantikul, our colleague from Industrial Design Department, Chulalongkorn University, gave a lecture on 'The 3rd Age" and her experiences working on designing for elderly during her years in Royal College of Art, London. Very interesting and inspiring indeed.


Late afternoon, we did a brief review of all initial ideas and released everybody home! Good Job for the first day. :-)

การสัมนาเชิงปฎิบัติการการออกแบบ (design workshop) เป็นกิจกรรมที่มุ่งเน้นให้เกิดการ ตระหนัก ถึงการบริโภคอย่างมีสติเพืิ่อสุขภาพที่ดี สนับสนุนอย่างเป็นทางการโดย สสส. (สำนักงานกองทุนสนับสนุนการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพ) โดยเป็นส่วนหนึงของกิจกรรม Is Am Are ใน Bangkok Design Festival อันเป็นโครงการต่อเนื่องจาก Consumption R Us I ใน Bangkok Design Festival 2007

แนวความคิดหลักตั้งอยู่บนสมมุติฐานที่ว่า คงเป็นการยาก ที่จะต่อต้านการบริโภคในสังคม ทุนนิยม และบริโภคนิยมอย่างในปัจจุบัน แต่ทำอย่างไรจะทำให้เกิด การบริโภคได้อย่าง มีสุขภาพดี ก่อให้เกิดความเป็นอยู่ที่ดี ของคนในสังคมแบบไทยๆ และอาจจะขยายวงกว้าง ไปถึงการออกแบบที่ทำให้เกิดผลดีกับ ความเป็นอยู่ที่ดี (well being) ในระดับของสภาพ แวดล้อมในสังคม เพราะมนุษย์ไม่สามารถ อยู่ได้อย่างเป็นสุข หากสภาพแวดล้อม ไม่เอฺื้ออำนวย

ในปีนี้แนวความคิดมุ่งเน้นไปที่การใช้ชีวิต (life style) แบบนี้ทำให้แก่อย่างมีคุณภาพ เพราะการแก่นั้น ไม่ได้มีความหมายในเชิงลบ หากเป็นการสื่อถึงการมีชีวิตอยู่จนอายุยืนยาว โดยประเด็นนี้อาจจะมองไปได้ เป็นการใช้ชีวิตของคนหนุ่มสาวที่ทำอย่างไรจะกลายเป็น คนแก่อย่าง มีคุณภาพ การใช้ชีวิตของ คนแก่ให้มีความสุขและสุขภาพดี หรืออาจะเป็นการ สร้างภาพพจน์และการรับรู้ของคนทั่วไปในว่า การเป็นคนแก่แบบที่มีการใช้ชีวิต ที่มีคุณภาพสุขภาพดีนั้น เป็นเรื่องที่น่าชื่นชม และมีความสุข โดยงานออกแบบที่เกิดขึ้นจาก ใน workshop นั้น ต้องเป็นงานออกแบบที่เกี่ยวพันกับกายภาพเท่านั้น ไม่ใช่งานออกแบบใน เชิงสือโฆษณา เพื่อเป็นการ ขยายรูปแบบของการรณรงค์การตระหนักถึง การบริโภค เพื่อสุขภาพ ในแนวทางที่กว้างขวางขึ้นกว่าการใข้สือโฆษณาที่ สสส. ได้ทำอยู่ นอกจากนี้การ ออกในหลากหลายรูปแบบ ทั้งในเชิงงานที่เป็น การออกแบบที่ใช้ได้จริง งานออกแบบที่เป็นจินตนาการ ที่ตั้งอยู่บนรากฐานของความเป็น ไปได้ในอนาคต หรือว่างานออกแบบในเชิงวิพากษ์

การทำงานจะแบ่งเป็นสองส่วน ส่วนแรกเป็นการทำงานออกแบบระหว่าง 10-14 ตุลาคม 2551 หลังจากนั้นเป็นเวลาหนึงสัปดาห์จะเป็นนิทรรศการผลงานออกแบบที่ได้จาก การออกแบบในสัมนาเชิงปฎิบัติการ
